Wondering What the Ideal Weight for Your Pet Is?

The easiest way to check if your furry friend is at a healthy weight is by simply observing them. Be honest with yourself, does your pet seem a little too chunky? If so, they may need a slight reduction in their food. Are they looking a bit thin? Maybe it's time to offer them a bit more.
For most pets (though this can vary by breed), you should be able to feel their ribs without encountering too much excess fat. From above, their waist should be visible. If their ribs are easy to feel but also visible, this could be a sign that your pet is underweight. If you notice a very defined waist and larger hips, your pet may be overweight. Overweight pets often have no visible waist and finding their ribs is a challenge.

Remember, the numbers we provide are just a general guideline for most pets. If your pet has a faster metabolism or is more active, they may need more food than the higher end of the recommended range. If they’re less active, they might require less than the lower range.
